Weekly Wrap-Up: March 5 – 11, 2017

Weekly Wrap-Up | rashon

It’s Friday! That means it’s time for my weekly wrap-up. This is my chance to tell you about what I’ve been up to, and what I’m loving this week! You’ll see that some of it is nutrition and health related, and some of it is just for fun. Let’s go!

What I’m Eating:

Some of you noticed that there was no wrap-up last week. You also know that I like to keep things real around here. Y’all, last week was bad. You might remember in one of my posts on adrenal fatigue, I talked about dealing with anxiety. It comes and goes, and most of the time it’s gone, but last week it was back with a vengeance. Miserable. I had to take a step back, and take care of myself. Anyway, it was a reminder to make sure my food, and the supplements I take, were on point. Here are some of the things I’ve been eating:

  • Balanced meals with plenty of clean protein healthy fats, veggies and leafy greens. I never skimp on Weekly Wrap-Up: Veggies and Hummus | rashonprotein when I’m in the midst of anxiety (or any type of illness, actually) because our bodies need that fuel to repair and rebuild.
  • Veggies (English cucumber, grape tomatoes, carrot sticks, mini sweet peppers) with hummus. This is a favorite snack or side to a lettuce-wrapped sandwich. You’re getting loads of nutrients and antioxidants from the veggies, and protein and healthy fats from the hummus. Hummus is super easy to make, but I typically buy from the store. I ALWAYS read the ingredients to make sure that it’s got clean ingredients and good oils (no canola, vegetable or other damaged oils).
  • Handful of nuts/seeds like almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts (great source of selenium and good for my thyroid/adrenal issues), pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds. Sometimes I’ll add in a few sharp cheddar cheese cubes for some extra protein.
  • Apple and 2 Tbsp. almond butter (unsweetened!).

What I’m Reading:

I’ve been using the First5 App for a daily (well, not really always daily, but I’m working on it) bible study.

Weekly Wrap-Up: First5-Deuteronomy | rashonThis was created by Lysa TerKeurst, and her Proverbs 31 Ministry. I really wanted something where I was reading the books of the bible, and studying those, as opposed to a devotional book. Not that there’s anything wrong with devotional books (I have a ton!) – I’m just currently very interested in specifically reading the bible and having a better understanding of it – particularly the Old Testament. I started with Deuteronomy, and I have to tell you, this study was really life-changing for me. I’m still processing my thoughts on it all, but I found relevance to current situations that I wasn’t expecting. The app, and the reading plans are free, but they also offer Experience Guides (workbooks) that you can purchase. I bought the guide, and found it really helpful to go a little deeper on the teaching. If you’re looking for a new/different way to read and understand the Bible, I highly recommend this app.

What I’m Watching:

Santa Clarita Diet. This is a Netflix series starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant. Drew’s character becomes undead (I’m talking zombie here, but not the Walking Dead type zombie), and has to start eating people, which tests her marriage and family. This show is just light and funny, despite the  the killing/eating people part. If you just need a good laugh and distraction, this is a good choice!

What I’m Listening To:

Windows are Rolled Down by Amos Lee. I love this song (really, the whole Mission Bell album is great), and it makes me want to drive out through the Texas Hill Country – with the windows down.

What I’m Wearing:

I am currently obsessed with these Vans Slip On shoes that I got a few weeks ago. They are going to be perfect for spring and summer, and I want them in more colors. They are super comfortable, and I’d say they fit true to size. You can’t go wrong with these – so cute with jeans or shorts! I got the Wild Dove color, but both Zappos and Nordstrom have a wide range of color choices.

I’ve got a few shirts to tell you about, but the one I’m sharing today is probably my favorite. This Lace Trim Sleeveless Top from Old Navy is so cute! It’s perfect to wear with jeans or shorts, and can be dressed up or down. It’s got a relaxed fit, but is still flattering, and just feels easy to wear. It comes in three colors, and if there are any tall girls out there, it comes in tall length, too! This top is on sale for $24, but if you use code ENJOY, you get an additional 30% off through 3/11. Now, that’s a good deal! I bought it in black (because of course I did), but it’s easier to see the detail in the picture of the white.

What I’m Loving:

Weekly Wrap-Up: ER Quote | rashonWeekly Wrap-Up: ER Quote | rashon

I am loving these quotes from Eleanor Roosevelt. I have big dreams for myself. My passion is empowering others to transform their health. Starting a new business is terrifying, but I’m facing fears every day and moving forward. I am learning how to ask for help when I need it, and I’m surrounded by people who love me, and offer encouragement Every. Single. Day. ❤️ That being said, if you know anyone who could benefit from working with me, send them my way!

I’m Looking Forward To:

We’ve got a few milestones coming up this year, and I’m looking forward to celebrating those. We don’t have any major plans for vacations this year, but hoping for a few days at the beach. Some time by the ocean is good for my soul.

What are your favorites from the week?
