Weekly Wrap-Up: March 19 – 25, 2017

Weekly Wrap-Up | rashon

It’s Friday! That means it’s time for my weekly wrap-up. This is my chance to tell you about what I’ve been up to, and what I’m loving this week! You’ll see that some of it is nutrition and health related, and some of it is just for fun. Let’s go!

What I’m Eating:

This should be called What I’m Drinking. Last week, I told you about the tea that I had ordered to help with the gallbladder issues I’m having. I chose this blend (Persephone’s Tea) from Mountain Rose Herbs. It’s a blend of (all) organic Burdock root, Dandelion root, Oregon Grape root, Eleuthero root, Yellow Dock root and Milk Thistle seed. Mountain Rose Herbs is a trusted source for these ingredients. I also found that other blends out there contained fennel (no thank you as far as my tea is concerned) or sweeteners which I don’t like to add to my tea. Anyway, these roots and seeds are great for stimulating and detoxing the liver and gallbladder. Dried Root Tea | rashon

This is what the tea looks like right out of the bag. You gently simmer the dried tea in water for 10-20 minutes (depending on how strong you want it), and then strain it. Root Tea | rashon

Here’s a bad photo of the final product. Ha. So a couple of things: I’m impatient in general, so waiting for this to steep for 20 minutes kills me; however, I know it’s good for me, so I’ll make it work. 😉 The tea actually tastes good. It has a very earthy, kind of nutty flavor. If you’re used to sweetened tea, this might take some getting used to, but I really liked it. I typically throw a tea bag in my cup, and let it just sit, so I’m used to strong tea flavors. If you’re looking for a little boost for your liver/gallbladder, I’d say to give this a shot!

What I’m Reading:

106 of the most beloved Street Art Photos – Year 2012. I guess this section be called What I’m Looking At. As the title implies, this post is just a few years old. Haha. I had this bookmarked, and came across it while I was looking for something else this week, and knew I had to share it. This article is filled with images of some of the most amazing street art I’ve ever seen. While you’re there, be sure to take a look around their site. So many incredible art pieces, and so much inspiration to be found!

What I’m Watching:

Big Little Lies. To be fair, I just started watching this series, and am only one episode in, but I’m totally hooked! This HBO mini-series stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Adam Scott and a host of other incredible actors. From the HBO website, this basically sums it up: “In the tranquil seaside town of Monterey, California, nothing is quite as it seems. Doting moms, successful husbands, adorable children, beautiful homes: What lies will be told to keep their perfect worlds from unraveling?”

In all honesty this feels like Real Housewives if you throw in a murder. Only with this, there’s much better acting and far more interesting story arcs. It is really so good, and you should give it a watch. I’ve got the trailer here for your viewing pleasure.

What I’m Listening To:

Dolly is the greatest, and this fuchsia jumpsuit is everything. Enough said.

What I’m Wearing:

Spring is here which means it’s time to give our manis and pedis a pop of color. (Not so) Fun fact about me: I do my own pedicures. I can’t stand having my feet touched, so pedicures are a form of torture for me. Sign me up for all the manicures, though! I thought I would share a couple of my favorite polish colors for spring and summer. This first color is minimalistic by essie. It’s the palest of pinks, and is almost white in some light. It’s such a fresh color for the spring season.

If you’re looking for a real pop of color, then essie’s watermelon, is the shade for you. It’s what I’m currently sporting on my toes. It’s the perfect bright shade of pink – almost red – for spring or summer.essie watermelon | rashon

What I’m Loving:

I shared a post this week that is close to my heart. Note that there is a trigger warning at the beginning of this post, and it’s about as personal and raw as you can get. There are no good words for me to express my gratitude for all of those that reached out to me about it this week. The amazing words, encouragement, support and love I’ve received have been both overwhelming and humbling. I am forever grateful to be surrounded by all of you incredible people. It is an uncomfortable place when you put yourself out there in such a vulnerable way, and I so appreciate the care and love with which you treated my words, and me. God put those words on my heart, and to know that my own healing can come from them is beyond me.

If you saw yourself in my words in any way, please know that I am here for you. Feel free to email or message me any time. I just know that we are building an amazing community here. I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together, and truly live our lives full of joy, love and good health.

Again, thank you all for everything this week. It means more to me than you will ever know.

 I’m Looking Forward To:

Austin-area moms (you too, stepmoms!), this one’s for you! I am so excited for this event. It’s going to be a night filled with shopping, eating, socializing and more! I hope to see you there!
