Beauty on a Mission

Beautycounter on a Mission | rashon

You’ve heard me talk a lot about Beautycounter lately. I am passionate about this company’s mission, and their products. Beautycounter’s mission is to get safer products in the hands of everyone. Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including but not limited to asthma, cancer, and infertility) are on the rise and are due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals. Many of these chemicals are found in our personal care products, which is why Beautycounter has a Never List – a list of over 1,500 chemicals they refuse to use in their products. The European Union bans the use of nearly 1,400 chemicals in personal care products. The United States has partially banned 11. Yes – 11 – you read that right.

Did you know that the United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients in personal care products since 1938? Can you even believe it? Think about how much our world has changed since 1938, how many chemicals have been created, and used, in that time and even just the advancements in science and knowledge. It is time for change, and Beautycounter tirelessly works to educate and advocate for effective legislation that would protect consumers from needless exposure to these toxic chemicals.

Beautycounter partners with several trusted non-profits focusing on environmental health, education and safety. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I want to talk to you about the Breast Cancer Fund (BCF). BCF works to prevent breast cancer by eliminating our exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation linked to the disease. They are a founding member and national coordinator of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a broad-based coalition working to eliminate dangerous chemicals from cosmetics and personal care products. One of their goals is to help transform how our society thinks about and uses chemicals and radiation, with the goal of preventing breast cancer and sustaining health and life. The work of BCF is vital in helping to prevent cancer and save lives!

Since I can’t say enough how much I love this company and the mission of their partners, I’m going to put my money where my mouth is. I know that so many of us have been touched by breast cancer – whether personally or someone we know – and I wanted a way that I could support prevention research and education. For the month of October, when you make a purchase through my Beautycounter link, I will donate 50% of my commission to the Breast Cancer Fund. If you make a purchase and would like a donation made in honor of someone you know that has been affected by breast cancer, just send me an email with their name so we can recognize and honor them together.

If you haven’t tried Beautycounter products yet, I want to mention that they are high-performing and luxurious. The Nourishing Eye Cream is seriously the best eye cream I’ve ever used (and I’ve tried a lot of them!). If you have skin issues, health conditions or just want safer products for you and your family, this month is the perfect opportunity to give them a try and give back at the same time! If you have any questions about any of the products or want to know more of my favorites, leave a comment, send an email or reach out to me on social media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.

Thank you for your support in making this month of Beauty on a Mission successful!
